At the start of February 49 students and 5 staff travelled to Iceland on a joint Science and Geography field trip. Land Based Studies, now in its second year. It is an alternative pathway for Year 9 and upwards students and teaches them the rudiments of gardening and at the end of Year 11 they gain a BTEC Level 3 Certificate in Land Based Studies. Some of the Year 9 Triple Science pupils were invited to go on a day trip to Manchester University’s Chemistry department to learn about biopolymers. On Thursday 22nd June we went to The Peoples History Museum and looked around the interactive exhibitions, which were about peoples’ protests. There was a main exhibition about the LGBT+ movement. It was very thought provoking to see the struggles they went through to achieve equality.

The Year 10 and 11 Enterprise teams went to the Trafford Centre on Friday 10th February to promote and sell their products, Birdhouses and Feeders for Year 10 and “It’s Fun to Cook” for Year 11.
