School Noticeboard w/c 25th April 2016
This Week’s Theme
– Be Respectful
Further Education Transition
– A cohort of Year 9 and Year 10 students undertook group transition visits to Hopwood Hall Rochdale and Middleton campuses last week, in order to enable them to make more carefully considered decisions for their future. The students were very appreciative of this opportunity and are very enthusiastic about further education.
Silver Duke of Edinburgh Training Weekend
– Year 10 Silver Duke of Edinburgh’s award students spent two days in Saddleworth on a training weekend. On Saturday they were accompanied on a 17km hike across open moorland. It was a cold day with varying weather conditions. Students enjoyed a snowball fight on high ground before arriving at the Boarshurst Centre. After tea, they completed map work, first aid and team building activities. Sunday had them walking a further 14km back to Castleshaw.
Redwood’s Bag2School Collection
– We are pleased to support Redwood’s textile collection with Bag2School in order to raise funds for Redwood. Bag2School are the UK’s leading textile recycler and fundraiser working with schools and since its inception in 2001 they have now paid out over £20 million. As well as raising vitally needed funds for Redwood, it also helps the environment by helping to divert unwanted textiles away from landfill. By getting involved in their Bag2School collection, you have an opportunity to sort through your cupboards and wardrobes and donate unwanted textiles– this can include adults’ and children’s clothes, shoes (tied together please), hats, belts, handbags and soft toys. Please note bedding, curtains, and household linen cannot be accepted. Bag2School will be collecting from Redwood on Friday 29th April. Please bring your bag (or bags!) to Redwood’s main reception by 9am and help them have a really good collection.
