School Noticeboard w/c 4th July 2016

This Week’s Theme

– Be Respectful

Eid Al-Fitr

– We wish everyone celebrating Eid Al-Fitr this week a blessed day.

Tuesday 5th July – Strike Action

– The National Union of Teachers (NUT) are taking industrial (strike) action on Tuesday 5th July. As a large number of staff within the school are members of this union, the school will be affected by the industrial action. A risk assessment has been undertaken and the school has made the decision to partially close. Students in Year 7 will still attend school, but school will be closed to Years 8, 9 and 10. We understand that this may cause you difficulties with child care so we have deliberately directed the resources we will have that day towards the youngest children who are more vulnerable. All children should return to school on Wednesday 6th July 2016.

Careers Fair – Thursday 7th July

– On Thursday 7th July, we will be hosting our second annual Careers Fair. Each year group will have the opportunity to visit the fair throughout the day, and between 3:00 and 5:00pm Parents/Carers will be able to attend along with their child(ren). It is an opportunity for all students to discuss and ask any questions about post 16 options with the appropriate agencies. There will be over 30 different representatives, including Sixth Form Colleges, Apprenticeship providers and local Universities.

Parent Forum

– The last Parent Forum meeting of this academic year will take place on Thursday 7th July, 6:00-7:30pm in the Learning Resource Centre at school. New and existing members are welcome to attend. The school would like to place on record our thanks to those members whose children are now in Year 11 and who have been members of Parent Forum over the last five years; the contribution that they have made has been immense and they leave with our best wishes and sincere thanks. If you are interested in joining the Parent Forum, please contact Mrs Corlett at school.
