School News – Week Commencing 7th March 2019
It was NSPCC Number Day on the 1st February. Staff and students took part in a whole school number trail and looked at numeracy activities in different subjects. Students were able to see how they could apply their mathematical skills across the curriculum and gained more awareness of what the NSPCC does and the support that is available to them. Staff and students also took part in a bake off and various fundraising activities which helped raise £180 for the NSPCC.
Year 11 Photo
We are delighted to announce the Year 11 photo will be taken on Monday 11th March from 2.50pm onwards. The whole process should only take approximately 30 minutes and we would hope that all Year 11 students are there to create their own piece of history. The photo also makes for a wonderful keepsake and reminder of their time at Oulder Hill.
Year 8 Football
The Year 8 team continued their good form in the league with a 2-1 victory against a stubborn Kingsway Park team. OH started on the front foot and missed two easy chances as the speed of Oliver Crompton and Zack Needham caused chaos in the Kingsway back line. Twice the ball was squared across the goal only for OH to squander an easy tap in. OH showed the resilience to keep going and were soon in front as Harrison Whittaker curled the ball from the edge of the box. OH continued to press in the search for a second but were caught out on several occasions. Excellent defensive work from Alfie Lambert, Kian Mulleeney, Max Thomas and Jack Parkinson withstood a couple of Kingsway counter attacks. Half time, OH, 1 – 0 Kingsway Park.
In the second half, OH altered their shape and this soon paid dividends as George Ogden smashed the ball home from a tight angle. Jack Parkinson whipped a ball over to the back post and George smashed the ball past the helpless goal keeper. Harrison Whittaker then had a chance to put the game to bed but he missed the target from 3 yards. Kingsway rallied later in the half, but Alfie Lambert pulled off numerous fantastic saves. Late in the game, Kingsway grabbed a consolation but it was far too late for it to have an effect. Overall, the 2-1 score line flattered Kingsway Park as OH missed several gilt edge chances but it put OH second in the league, 3 points behind St Cuthberts with a game in hand.
